Counselling is a way of facilitating decisions or changes or reducing confusion.
It is not about telling the client what to do.
I am here to listen and help you to understand and identify what is going on to make you feel out of sorts.

What Happens In A Counselling Session?
Many clients will come into a counselling session unsure of what to expect. I believe that my healing space must be inviting so that you can relax and open up about why you are seeking counselling
My clients sit comfortably and privately to talk about the topics or areas in their lives that are causing them distress, low self-esteem, anxiety, relationship challenges and mental health issues.
In a session, the client can explore different aspects of their life and feelings and talk without feeling judged by their partners, friends or family members.
Repressed emotions, such as anger, fear, sadness and shame, can become very intense, and counselling offers the opportunity to explore and understand them more easily.
My role is to listen in order to understand the client's perspective and help them gain insight from a different angle.

Will Counselling Work?
At the first meeting with you, I will try to assess whether my styles of counselling is right for you. I will listen to why you want to counsel and what difficulties you are facing.
The advantages of face-to-face counselling
Counsellors are trained to watch your body language while you are talking and by observing your non-verbal communication (e.g. your facial expressions, the way you sit) I will get a clearer picture of what you are saying and feeling
Alternatives to Face to Face Counselling
At Healing By the Bay - we do have 2 other options if a face to face session is not going to be suitable.

Or we have walk and talk sessions where I can meet up with you and we can do a counselling session while we walk.
Telehealth Counselling
Zoom or over the phone, whatever you’re comfortable with. Calls or Zoom can be booked in advance and typical sessions are 90 mins. Bookings weekly.
