It’s essential for me that my clients get out near the water to heal by the bay. Nature and the ocean are incredible natural relaxants that I want to utilize in creating a safe space for you to move towards healing and encouraging you to feel nourished in the calmness of the bay.

Everyone has a different idea of happiness. What it means to another, may not resonate with you. In a world where we are told how to be happy every day, to feel gratitude, be comfortable in our own skin, and be our authentic selves. All of this can be incredibly challenging, and somewhat overwhelming. Especially when you’re struggling mentally. Together we can change the narrative. I will teach you a variety of techniques to put in place, to assist and guide you through those coming days, weeks, and months ahead. And even when the shift has changed, you can practice those techniques and be able to utilize them again, and again.

I am Andrea

Hello, and welcome to my website “ Healing by the Bay” My name is Andrea McMahon and I have lived on the Bayside of Brisbane for the past 14 years with my husband, two children, and our beloved dog. We didn’t always live in Australia. We emigrated from Ireland in early 2008 and settled in the Redlands and have never left. I find that living in Cleveland gives me a real sense of community and belonging. I started my studies in counselling in 2019 when I needed to understand the traits and behaviours behind anxiety and my own mental wellbeing. I finally finished my studies and opened my own private practice at the beginning of 2022. I’m now a registered Counsellor with the Australian counselling association, and I have recently completed my Mental Health First Aid certificate as well as studying for my major in relationship and conflict resolution counselling. I also hope to complete my studies by majoring in Grief and Loss counselling by the end of 2022.

I would like to tell you a little bit more about me before we connect as a Counsellor/ Client. It’s essential to you, and me that we are a therapy match, and we also share an emotional connection. I’m a huge advocate that everyone is an expert in their own lives and sometimes we just need some guidance in the right direction. You will receive this from me. I will hold the space for you while you tell your story while listening without judgment. Together we will work collaboratively to achieve realistic goals and actions. We will build upon your strengths towards a happy future while I walk alongside you through this transition. Together we will build strength and resilience to help you create the best version of yourself using Solution-focused therapy, along with other therapeutic frameworks.
